Service Design Course

EXPERIENCE HAUS

Between March 2020 and June 2022 I created and delivered a range of different service design courses and curriculums for Experience Haus, a design and creative skills training provider based in London.

The main product developed was a part-time course in both online and offline (in-person) formats, designed for small classes of eight students to attend two evening sessions per week for twelve weeks, with real-world projects and homeworks given on the side.

As part of this process, I created all of the materials (syllabus, slides, workshop templates, homeworks, readings, marketing communications etc) needed to put on the courses, and taught the first four cohorts of students.

The course content included topics such as:

  • Design Thinking

  • Introduction to Service Design

  • Systems Thinking & Meaningful Order

  • Analysing a Brief

  • Starting Discovery

  • Client Interviews & Workshops

  • Research Design & Planning

  • Secondary Research

  • Primary Research: Quantitative & Qualitative Methods

  • Personas

  • Jobs to be Done

  • Lightweight Scenarios

  • Empathy Maps

  • Journey & Experience Maps

  • Opportunity Prioritisation

  • Problem Statements

  • Ideation, Sketching & Storyboarding

  • Service Prototyping

  • Informal Testing

  • Formal Purpose-Built Tests

  • Service Blueprinting

  • Course Retro, Wash-Up & Career Advice
